Created in just 12 days for Halloween 2024, this short ROM hack is all about how much of an eerie atmosphere can be achieved in Sonic 1 by removal alone.
Every action carries an immediate, permanent consequence. Collecting a ring, defeating an enemy, finishing a level—each choice causes something in the game to vanish forever. The more Sonic interacts with his surroundings, the emptier the world becomes, leaving him to wander through a silent, desolate landscape. There are no jumpscares, no hyper-realistic blood, and definitely no Sonic.exe—just a quiet, decaying world. Will you keep moving forward, even as everything around you fades into meaninglessness? Or will you look for an escape?

Sonic the Hedgehog: Isle of Magnetic Artifacts is a sonic hack made By Neo Team Kyukyoku
is a hack which aims to overhaul Sonic 1 using a Japanese-inspired aesthetic. The main feature of this demo is Blossom Gardens Zone, the resting area of the isolated, star-god worshipping Kuratranos tribe. BGZ is a fast-paced experience littered with swift-acting enemies, height-granting gimmicks, driving music, and advanced graphical effects. This new zone can be traversed with three playable characters: Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, and Knuckles the Echidna. Sonic, in particular, features a set of unique sprites, the dropdash ability, and a new companion: Abbey the Flicky. Abbey can pick up nearby rings and circle potential targets for Sonic, including hidden monitors.

Sonic.EXE mega drive
This rom hack main focus is to reinvent how sonic .exe is to the public such as adding game play to the game Unlike sonic forces because the original was inspired by sonic forces ? and also adding a bit of story and new character (not playable characters but characters related to story) this demo includes 2 short levels that being Hill act 1 ,Hide and seek

Sonic 1 Definitive
Sonic 1 Definitive is a hack named by RadiantNexus Team, which seeks to reimagine Sonic 1 by rearranging levels. remixing music, adding features from future games, and readding scrapped ideas in new and interesting ways.
Major features:
- 3 acts of reimagined level design, including one act that has yet to be fully reimagined in any other hack.
- A miniboss.
- Massive art overhaul all over the place.
- Music made by ProjectFM and MechaKnuckles.
- Menus!
- A custom splash screen.
There's been massive engine overhauls as well, including the Sonic 3 level layout format for massive levels, and the Sonic 3 object manager to go alongside this.
Sonic 1 Flash Flood
Sonic 1 Flash Flood is a ROM hack of Sonic the Hedghog that features new palette, audio, zone layout and special stage modifications, in addition to new gameplay mechanics. Flood waters rise and recede at random all over the island, significantly changing how the island is navigated. Can you make it through?
Features:
- Level Design - In addition to the rain effect and water palettes, level layouts are tweaked to account for water physics.
- Marble Zone has altered lava physics, and Acts 2 and 3 have new shortcuts.
- Being entirely underground, Labyrinth Zone has been affected a bit...differently by the change in weather.
- Goggles Monitors - These take the place of air bubbles, and are thus unlimited. Use as many as you need!
- Badnik Behavior - The rain and flooding is even affecting Eggman's robots and hazards, causing them to malfunction! Some are even enhanced by the chaotic weather. Strangely, most fire-related hazards (such as flamethrowers and fireballs) remain unaffected, defying all logic.
- Special Stages - New special stage gameplay style, with art and music changes. Get Yellow Rings!
- Water Physics - Some general quality of life improvements to the water physics, and bug fixes are included here (with a few exceptions, for gameplay reasons).
- Level Select - Available upon pressing start, no code required. Feel free to check out any zone or special stage at your leisure.
Known Bugs:
- Minor graphical bug in the special stage background, and on the results screen.
- In the Special Stages, blocks at the edge of the screen being loaded in flicker, due to the amount of objects.
- Level art mapping glitches crop up on rare occasion.
- Labyrinth and Scrap Brain's palette cycles are bit buggy at the moment.
- There are a couple of lingering walk-jump bugs here and there

Sonic 3C Delta is a hack of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 (& Knuckles). It is a compilation of early/unused content for Sonic The Hedgehog 3, including early music, layouts, graphics, concepts, and more.
The hack currently includes all the zones from the first half of Sonic 3, including Flying Battery Zone in its original placement and the 3 Bonus Stages.

Sonic the Hedgehog ReOne
Sonic ReOne is a hack created by DeltaWooloo which takes Sonic back to where he originally started 29 years ago in South Island. This hack features new palettes that cycle through every act just from bright morning to dark evenings. Iconic features from classic Sonic games arrived in this hack (see the features below) Eggman pumped up his bosses to make it harder when you annoy him by hitting him. The level design is a mix between linear and platforming which is something you see in Sonic games, but be careful that you don't go too fast. Eggman placed badniks and springs to prevent you from going to the end. The music is catchy and fun to listen to and suits the mood of the zones.

Sonic Halloween 2020
Eggman has been possessed and turned into Devil Eggman and has cursed South Island. Find the Chaos Pumpkins and undo the curse.
This hack features art and music edits, new level gimmicks, and boss edits. Since 2015 I released a new build each year for Halloween. This however will be the last yearly build. While there are still changes and improvements that can be made, I am ready to move on with other projects.
Since the last time this was entered into the contest I have made more changes to the art, updated some of the music, added new level gimmicks, adjusted a couple of the bosses, and fixed several bugs.

Its been about 3 years since I last released this, now for some of you who have played this before you probably wont feel like much has changed since the last release but there has been quite a few additions and a lot of bug fixes that I will list towards the end of the hack description.

Sonic And The Mystic Gems
Sonic And The Mystic Gems (previously known as Sonic 1 Harder Levels) is a hack made by Eduardo Knuckles and his team Harder Project of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive. It began in 2005 with the simple purpose of being a generic Sonic 1 for Sega Genesis with increase difficulty and revamped versions of the original levels. Sonic 2: Advanced Edit 2019 Update
Made by Team AE Sonic 2 Advanced Edit features 7 entirely new zones, each full of unique enemies and with a boss whose gameplay varies depending on which character you play as. Playable characters are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy. Furthermore as bonus content, the hack features the 5 zones from the 2008 release, brushed up to be fully playable. Upon completing the 7 main zones, you obtain a code to access the level select from which you can play the bonus zones by selecting "South Island 1".

Sonic & Ashuro 4.06
A sonic hack based on Sonic 1 made by Ashuro
Sonic & Ashuro was released during the Sonic Hacking Contest 2016, I presented the first version of this project: The 3.0 (which I later updated to Sonic Stuff Research Group as 3.1).
I received a lot of good feedback and decided to continue this project, which seemed unfinished. I decided to recast 60% of the game, improve a lot of things, I fixed so many bugs, technical problems, unfinished plans.
Story :
After losing once again against Sonic, Tails and Knuckles on Angel Island, Dr. Eggman in a desperate attempt will use the residual energy of the Chaos Emeralds and damage the spatio-temporal balance of their dimension.
Sonic's world will find itself on the same vibratory plane as its parallel universe, that of Ashuro the badger. But the universes are collapsing on themselves and Dr. Eggman risks destroying all the worlds they harbour.
To prevent the destruction of the world, Sonic and Ashuro will join their forces to restore the order and return to their respective worlds.
